Raving and Behaving into 2017
For many the eve of the new year is a chance to grab their nearest and dearest and have a good old boozy knees up, attend or host a house party, go clubbing/raving or whatever you’d like to call it… But then, New Years Day is usually a write off, right! You spend the morning in bed with a hangover and the afternoon rummaging around the kitchen cupboards looking for something to keep the hunger pangs at bay. (Don’t lie there’s going to be a pizza/kebab delivery at some point that day!) Truth.
This year however I wanted something completely different and complimentary to the fact I didn’t want a hangover on Jan 1 2017. Afterall my year was starting out differently to the 10 or so before it… You already know I’ve given up my job to go travelling for a few months and am heading to a fitness camp in Thailand for a month of training, so why not start the new year in a way I’d not done before too?!
I’d been stressed about what to do for NYE for a while, shall I call friends over for a cheese and wine night (did that last year), shall I head out on the town (might be getting on a bit for that!), shall I spend the night in with my rents watching the fireworks (you mean fall asleep at 10pm)… nope none of those worked for me. Then low and behold… what popped up on my FB news feed was literally fate!
A ‘Rave and Behave’ Party organised by a new social fitness app called @Fitssi piqued my interest… What was it you ask?
- It was a party in London (yup a rave!)
- There was champagne (bonus)
- I get to dance in my trainers (sneakers for you Americans)
- I get to wear leggings (I live in active wear at the moment)
- I get to shop pre-party (for more active wear!)
- I get to hang out with a #GirlSquad of fitness enthusiasts (make new friends and potentially find a gym buddy!)
- And finally… I get to workout with (be trained by) the super fit (physically and urm… physically!) Bradley Simmonds and some other awesome fitness instructors.
I mentioned it to a few people who thought it sounded like madness… However thank God for my awesome little sister who’d had the same idea and seen the same event pop up, we booked the VIP tickets straight away.
Then came the issue of which pieces of our ‘fit kit’ would adorn us for the special night and what trainers to wear (I mean, it’s not that difficult but we still wanted to look somewhat ‘New Years Evie’). Once that was decided we were ready to Rave (and Behave!).
And that’s exactly what we did. Imagine this, 100+ happy, healthy, fitness enthusiasts in a London venue ready to bring in the new year working out with some of 2016’s most exciting insta-fit stars such as the @townsend_twins, @wildcatfit, @healthyfitfran, @fayes_fitness, @define.london and of course the one and only insta fit superstar that is @bradleysimmonds!!!
2 and a half hours of booty burning squats, lunges and planks later we were approaching midnight, we’d made some epic new friends, were high on endorphins and maybe a glass or 2 of champagne… (#WineNWorkouts is for real!) And were ready to hit that dance floor… Because of course we had a whole lot more energy left for dancing into the early hours of the morning… And dance we sure did!
My NYE was a blast, I met some inspirational, healthy, fit ladies such as Katie the CEO of Fitssi @ktb_health and Naomi a Fitssi PT @naomijadeuk, made some fabulous new friends (one who lives 5 minutes away from me #newgymbuddy @eathealthylivehappily and yup we trained together… tonight!) I found a new London based #fitsquad that are so welcoming, friendly not judgemental at all… And finally, I took home a great selection of yummy goodies to try out in 2017! You know the best bit however… There was no hangover on NY Day, I had the day after a workout muscle burn and a brand new top from Lorna Jane UK (of course I shopped).
I just want to thank the Fitssi team for thinking totally outside the box for a night which usually ends in drunken stupor for a lot of people. I 100% cannot wait for the next Rave and Behave party.
Below are a few more pics from what was a great night and a fab start to a new year!
Stay happy, stay healthy and make 2017 a good one!
